Michael Allen Harris, 47, of Bumpass, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. For those who knew Mike best, it goes without saying, he chose to make his way home on the last weekend of deer season. Mike was born on September 18, 1969, at St. Mary's hospital in Richmond Virginia. He is the son of James and Brenda Fulcher of Bumpass, Virginia. Mike attended Louisa County Public Schools and after high school, joined the Army National Guard. Mike went to work for Valentine Construction Company Inc, Oilville, Virginia where he remained for many years before joining CSX Railroad as a vehicle operator. Mike was an extremely dedicated and hard worker, he enjoyed his job and the many friends and "brothers" he met along the way.
Mike was an avid hunter and a member of Ellisville Hunt Club. He spent many weekends out in the woods with his boys Michael and Johnathan. Some of their favorite times were spent in West Virginia with Jolly Ray and family, Mike's family away from home. Mike never met a stranger and made many friends throughout his life. He enjoyed working on his truck only to take it through the deepest mud hole he could find and have to turn around and fix it again. Mike enjoyed training his dogs and passing along his passion to his son Michael. He also spent many days on the lake being out fished by his son Johnathan.
Mike is survived by his best friend and wife of 20 years, Janet Harris, their two boys, Michael and Johnathan, sisters Denise Rowland (Jamie) Chrissy Cabra (Todd) and brother Stacey Fulcher (Megan); nieces Katelin, Kyleigh, Britain, and Tess and nephews Lucas and Scott.
Visitation will be held at Lacy Funeral Home, Thursday January 12, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The service will be held at Dogwood Baptist Church, Friday January 13, at 1:00 pm. Graveside is at Spring Grove Cemetery and a reception for friends and family to gather after will be held at his sister Denise's home, 75 Oak Knoll Place, Bumpass, VA.

Celebrating the life of Michael Allen Harris
Thank you for signing Michael Allen Harris's Guestbook
You all have my condolences and I am sorry for your loss. Death is never easy to deal with. It is nice that there soon will be a time when "death will be no more" and even tears and pain will be gone. This may sound like wishful thinking but it is promised at Revelation 21:3,4. We can look forward to this and I hope this is up building for you right now.

Sending you all love and prayers. I will miss Mike and his jokes and his sense of humor and love of torturing me in text the mornings he would set out to go hunt Bambi knowing how much I hated it. He and Janet and the kids brought my father, Jolly Ray, and the rest of our family so much joy and belly laughs over the to short years we had with him. He will be forever missed. Godspeed to you, our friend and brother.
