Betty Joe King

Betty Joe King,86, of Bumpass passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, February 28, 2020. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert E. “Bob” King.

Betty was born in August of 1933 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Joe and Emma White. After working in a management role for two decades in the grocery industry, Betty retired to travel and delight in the flea market world with her beloved, Bob and their RV. Her and Bob were also known as “Snowbirds” as they spent the winters in their second home away from home in Largo, Florida. Betty will be missed, but knowing she is reunited with the love of her life brings many blessings and peace to her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving family consisting of her six children, James “Jimmy” King (Annie), Bobbie Poole, Vivian “Rusty” Bergeron (Mike), Robert “Rab” King (Carol), Joseph King (Laura Beattle) and Kirk King (Sherrye); 12 grandchildren, Brian King (Sandy), Keith King (Christian), Stephen King, Tracey Bowles (George),Holly Walton (Les), Billy Scott (Theresa),Robert “Mitch” King, Joseph “J.C.” King (Raeana), Kraig King, Travis King (Becca), Christina Badgett and Janette Palmer; as well as her many adored great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at Lacy Funeral Home, in Mineral, Va. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 at the King Family Cemetery, 2176 Whickham Rd, Bumpass, VA 23024.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or act.alz.org.
