Dorothy Louise Parrish Gammon, 97, of Orchid, died peacefully Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at home.Mrs. Gammon was born to Joseph Ruben “Brud” and Jeanette Jones Parrish on September 25, 1917.She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, O.W. “Shoat” Gammon; her sister, Lenora (Walter, deceased) Thorpe of Richmond; her brothers, Joseph “Joe” (Lorene, deceased), Elton Lee, William Thomas “Billy,” all of South Anna.She is survived by her brother, Henry (Byrd, deceased); her sisters-in-law, Wilhelmena T. Parrish of South Anna and Jean Hawk (Karl) of Maidens; her sons, Joseph Dabney (Pun) of North Chesterfield, David Lee (Hazel) of Nottoway and Kenneth Lawrence (Preston) or Orchid; five grandchildren, Robin Lautenslager of Bumpass, James Dabney Gammon of Richmond, Susan (Brad) Pleasants of Fredericks Hall, Beth (Brian) Alvis of Orchid and Theresa (Michael) Hicks of Fife; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.Dorothy was a homemaker and retired from the Division of Motor Vehicles.Family will received friends on Thursday, January 8 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at Dogwood Baptist Church, 5677 Newline Road, Gum Spring.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9 at Dogwood Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Dogwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 5677 Newline Road, Gum Spring, VA 23065.Arrangements are being made by Lacy Funeral Home, Rt. 522, Mineral.

    Our Prayer is that you will seek comfort from the God that created all.. The manner in which Mrs. Gammon was cared for is a testimony as to the love that you had for her.
