Frank Hollins

Frank A. Hollins of Bumpass passed away on Wednesday July 7th at the age of 83 after battling with cancer. Frank was the son of the late James C. Hollins and Elizabeth Waldrop Hollins Jones. He was preceded in death by his wives Ella Claire Moody Hollins and Betty Fuller Sprouse Hollins and his brother James C. Hollins Jr.. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a long time owner and operator of Tip-Top Grocery and Hollins Toy and Furniture Shop on U.S. 33, Mineral, Virginia. He later worked for Foley Materials Handling Company in Ashland, Va. He was a 50 year member of Murray Lodge A.F. & A.M. and served as the finance chairman for Hopeful Baptist Church for 34 years.

He is survived by his daughter Nancy Hollins Byers Dan of Bumpass, his son Sam Hollins of Richmond, stepdaughter Sue Sprouse Stanley Eddie of Bumpass and his stepson Johnnie Sprouse. He had six grandchildren, Danny Byers BJ, Andrew Bubba Byers Jennifer, Matthew and Kevin Hollins, Elizabeth and Mark Stanley, 5 great grandchildren, his brother Lewis Hollins, sister-in-law Emily P. Hollins and a devoted friend Robert Bob Bunting.

Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Bruce Cole on Saturday July 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Hopeful Baptist Church, Montpelier, Virginia. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hopeful Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 14340 Hopeful Church Road, Montpelier, Virginia 23192.

Arrangements were made by Lacy Funeral home in Orchid, Virginia.
