Kathryn Kitts Carroll
September 6, 1948 – February 19, 2024
On Monday, February 19, 2024 Kathryn Kitts Carroll, age 75, claimed the promise of the resurrection and entered eternal rest in the loving care of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia, on September 6, 1948 to Eugene Kitts and Lucy (Drott) Kitts, Kathy grew up in Leesburg Virginia. After graduating high school in 1966, she went to work for Department of Agriculture, Small Business Admin, U.S. Coast Guard and General Services Admin. She worked in the Government for over 30 years, then retired to Lake Anna with her husband Robert Carroll.
In 2007 she joined Rehoboth UMC and was devoted to mission and service including weekly crafts meetings where the ladies knitted shawls for the Prayer Shawl Ministry as well as many other craft items. Kathy, in listening to a God nudge, was instrumental in launching Rehoboth’s ministry Grace-Full Knockers 4 U which provides breast prosthetics for women with breast cancer.
Survivors are husband, Robert Carroll; and nieces and nephews. Family members pre-deceasing Kathryn include parents, Eugene Kitts and Lucy (Drott) Kitts; siblings, Jean Marie (Grimes) Dura, Grey Grimes Betty Lou Zinz and William (Billy) Grimes.
Final preparations were provided by Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa Virginia.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kathryn’s memory to Rehoboth UMC.
Kathy was an inspiration to all who were privileged to know her. I never met anyone who was more dedicated to God. She inspired all of us with her tireless work in the church she loved. Kathy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
My deepest condolences to Bob, the Kitts and the Caroll families.
Kathy was a pillar of Rehoboth UMC from the moment she decided this would be her Church home. She dedicated herself to the service of God our father, to the congregation and she made life long friends here. Her technical support and expertise went a long way for the benefit of our services and celebrations for many years. She led our Craft ministry it feels like, from the start of her membership. She also led the much needed efforts to modernize and remodel our overworked kitchen and did a beautiful job. The Graceful Knockers ministry was her baby and she worked tirelessly year round with patients, Doctor’s offices and on the front line each year for this cause at our State Fair. So many women and families benefited from her hard work, time and attention. The ripples of that mission will continue to circle cancer patients, our community and RUMC.
Kathy was a Warrior for Christ and for all of us. Well done faithful servant. You are loved and will be greatly missed.
