Margaret Louise Kersey Tiller

October 13 1927 – October 2, 2022

Margaret Louise Kersey Tiller, born October 13, 1927, died peacefully on October 2, 2022. She was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of Hopeful Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was the floral attendant for many years. She was better known as Grandma Tiller, who she loved to be called, even by others who weren’t family. She cherished her family, friends, and her church, and she loved flowers, cards, pictures, cardinal birds, and her desserts – especially her favorite bar cake.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Lewis W. Tiller, Sr.; her son, Lewis W. Tiller, Jr; her parents J.W. Kersey, Sr., and Lucy Lloyd Kersey; her sister and brother-in-law, Ann & Overton Nicholas, Jr. Also, brothers, J.W. Kersey, Jr (Wiley Jr) and Buford Kersey. Finally, her nephew J.W. Kersey III (Jimmy).

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Molly & Donnie Seay; her daughter-in-law Deborah P. Tiller; her brother and sister-in-law, Matt & Anne Kersey. Also, her grandchildren Kathy Seay (& Steve), Kelly Drumheller (& Paul), Jennifer Tiller (& Michael), D.P. Seay, Jr. (& Toni) and Ashley Tarry (& Joe). Great grandchildren Casey Talley (& Ryan), Kevin Jones, Taylor Seay, Anthony Seay, Joe Thomas III, Ella Grace Drumheller and Olivia Tarry. Great-great grandchildren, Addison Talley, Peyton Jones, and Jaxsen Talley. Nephews Matt Kersey, Jr. (& Cherie) and Johnny Kersey, niece Jeannine Johnson (& Shane), and many friends, her church family, and the wonderful staff at Our Lady of Hope. The family would like to express our sincere thanks for taking such precious care of her.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm and the funeral service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2022, all at Hopeful Baptist Church: 14340 Hopeful Church Rd., Montpelier, VA 23192.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopeful Baptist Church.

    I remember Margaret from Hopeful church where I attended for many years with my children.We did Bible School together .A very special lady.Just as pretty on the inside as she was on the outside.You have run the race with GRACE and pleasing in GOD’S sight.Margaret knew me by my first married name,Powell.
