Mattie Jean Smith

August 29, 1934 – January 27, 2024

Mattie Jean Smith, 89, of Bumpass, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024. She was the daughter of William and Bell Stanley. Mattie worked at Tyson Foods Incorporated for 15 years in the labeling department.

She is survived by her children, Christine, Linwood (Elaine), Percy (Tammy); three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Sue Smith.

The family would like to thank her caregiver, Linda Jones, for her loving care and service, and her niece, Eunice Hensley and Pam Patrick for all their help and support. The family would also like to thank everyone for their prayers, calls, visits, meals, and care they’ve shown.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Lacy Funeral Home, 6241 Cross County Rd, Mineral, VA 23117. A Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Bethany Christian Church Cemetery, 2402 Bethany Church Rd, Bumpass, VA 23024.
