Orene Davette Atkinson Parrish of Mineral, Virginia died on Sunday, August 19, 2012. She was born on August 17, 1932 and grew up in Holly Grove, Virginia. She was married to the late Louis Edward Parrish for 49 years and resided in Goochland County in the Hadensville area. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Cleveland and Isla Johnson Atkinson of Holly Grove, and her brother, Wilbur Matthews Atkinson of Augusta, GA.She is survived by two daughters; June Parrish Perkins and Linda Parrish Christian both of Kents Store, Virginia and her beloved son-in-law Melford E. Perkins. Grandchildren include Michelle Perkins Haislip, her husband Scott (Dick) of Kents Store; Sharon Perkins Buck, her husband David, and Victoria (Vicky) Perkins-Brown, her husband Brian, all of Gordonsville; Louis Elliott Christian and Raleigh Ellen Christian of Kents Store. Great-grandchildren includeTyler Victoria Haislip, Josiah Perkins Buck, Grace Hannah Buck and Brandon Scott Brown, Caroline Elizabeth Brown and Olivia Renee Brown. She is survived by her sister Jacqueline Cooper Matysek and her husband, John of RichmondOrene leaves behind a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends.A very special acknowledgement to Orene’s second family: the staff of the Heritage Inn of Charlottesville, for their constant and loving care during her stay with them.Her remains rest at Lacy Funeral Home 6241 Cross County Road, Mineral, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00pm Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30pm Thursday, August 23rd at Dogwood Baptist Church, 5677 Newline Road, Gum Springs with interment in the church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 1436 Kents Store Way, Kents Store, VA 23084.
June and Linda, I was deeply saddend to hear about Mrs. Parrish. She was such a lovely lady and always had such a nice smile on her face. You both remind me so much of her. If there is anything I can do to help either of you, please let me know.

There are many words to describe my Aunt O. If I had to choose only one it would be love. She loved her family, friends and God. We were all so blessed to have shared some part of her 80 years on this earth.
I am so saddened by the news of my Aunts passing … I remember the visits when the family actually could get together with all the smiles and laughter … she will be truly missed! Love you Auntie Orene
I will miss Orene very much, she always put a smile on my face and was a Great Sister-in-Law.

We did not know that Orene had passed until we got the paper yesterday. Sorry to hear of your loss – it is just something that we cannot ever prepare ourselves for – even we know all know it is going to happen. I lost my father in May, so I know it is not easy. our thoughts and prayers are with you.
