Randall Joseph Reicher
August 20, 1959 – February 3, 2025
Randall Joseph Reicher, 65, of Mineral, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his home on February 3, 2025.
For anyone that knew Randy, they would say he was a hard worker, a joker, a loyal friend, and crazy stubborn. He wasn’t much of a people person, saying he preferred dogs over most people he met, but if you were lucky enough to be one of the chosen few, he would build your deck, replace your window, take you boating, cut down your tree, teach you to shoot, or watch your dog. He prided himself on being able to fix anything, build anything, and darn it, if he didn’t know how, he wouldn’t say, he’d just watch a tutorial on Google.
Randy was a proud member of Castle Park Lane and could be found strolling the lane, sitting in the yard watching the wildlife, and drinking with neighbors, all alongside his wife Pam and beloved dog Panzer.
Randy lived life to the fullest, and had many passions; from hunting and fishing, to growing his garden and listening to live bands, but where he really shined was with the title “Grandpa”. He loved every minute he spent with his three grandchildren, sharing his gum obsession, playing practical jokes, teaching them to fish, building campfires, and instructing them on the finer points of life in the shop. Randy’s presence in their life will be immensely missed.
Randy is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Heather; son, Josh; grandkids, Avery, Silas, and Esme; his mother, Rita; and brothers, Barry, Ed, Dennis and Tim. He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne; father-in-law, Don; and his many dogs, all of whom were surely waiting for him at heaven’s watering hole with their favorite drink and tennis ball.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life this summer in Randy’s hometown of Dubuque, Iowa, and encourage all who knew him to attend; details will be shared later this spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Wildlife Foundation of Virginia.
To the Reicher family, Sorry for your loss! After reading Randy’s Obit I am happy to know I was one of the Chosen few who got the pleasure of the invite to go boating and Run a couple 8k’s events, Randy was patient with me in trying to get up on skis, although I wasn’t successful at it we had a blast on the water. We worked together at DAEC and he always encouraged me to be the best I could be in moving up in position at work, I’ll never forget his confidence in me! He was an intense thinker, bright mind, and Loyal friend to those who weren’t full of BS.
he’ll be missed! RIP Friend
Pam,
I am stunned by this news of Randy passing.
I’ll always remember the love in your eyes when you looked at each other. 💔
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Heather, Josh and your grandchildren during this very trying time of grief.
Besides being a generally nice, friendly neighbor who was easy to talk to, Randy fixed my broken mailbox (without calling attention to the fact that I had run over it,) untangled my little dog who accidentally tied herself to a porch chair, and offered to take her in after a snowstorm when I had to leave but had no where to take her. Didn’t have to ask he would just see a need passing by on his walk and go to it. Castle Park will not be the same without him.
Sympathies to you and your family. We were honored to know Randy. I know he is having fun reuniteing with his dad and Don. Prayers Hugs and Love to all of you. Squeak and Patsy

A Jovial Joiner
Many impactful conversations occur just once between strangers who share family. My wife and I attended a Christmas party and finally met, the famous Randy, who was perched near the Christmas tree like a Tiffany security guard protecting its wrapped gifts. When I wanted to sit in the tree’s vicinity, I felt I had to get Randy’s approval. His approval gave every seat and word shared with Randy a premium value. Enriching our conversation into treasure, Randy inspired me to Finish a house project, Plan a trip to Chicago, and Spend time on the water with my dog, Trevor. He inspired celebrating life in the little details. Our chat resonated and sustained. He was so proud of the treehouse and deck he built with sustainable materials overlooking a pond for Devin’s sister. Randy was a master woodworker using sustainable materials seamlessly, otherwise know as a Joiner. He described the building process with self-deprecation and Jovial quips. Hilarious detail squeezed out his guttural laugh.
I’m so sad I didn’t get to spend more time with Randy, but treasure our Christmas party. Heaven will be more beautiful with a jovial joiner fixing up the place.
Heather, Avery and Devin, I’m so sorry for your loss and we are here for you anytime and anywhere.
Love ~(Randy’s proud apprentice)
Andy
