Judy, I am so sorry for your loss. While Bill and I were not real close I enjoyed being with you and Bill at Providence and your home. I know Bill and Callie Hughes thought the world of Bill. Chuck Hughes

I'm so very sorry for this incredibly sad loss for you all. I have many memories, but I have two of Mr. Waters that I'm really fond of.
He saved me from a big snake. Sort of. He drove me home (after what I'm sure was another day I'd hung out at the house all day playing) because I was still young enough to not be able to walk home and it was dark. He always waited to make sure I got into the house. Mom met me at the door and I went in. She starts screaming so I run back out the door. There was a big black snake curled up on the screen. I cant remember if Mr. Waters had already left since I made it in the house and Mom called him to come back and help (Dad was on the road) or if he heard the screams before he got out of the driveway, but he came back and gently got the snake off the door and into the woods for us. He was definitley our hero that night.
The second memory is of his acting career as the conductor in the church musical "The Music Machine" (I hope I got that name right). There are pictures of this that I still cherish.
Mr. Waters was a great Dad to his kids and his neighbor's kids and the church kids. He was so patient and kind and gentle and always made me feel safe.

Uncle Billy Sam. How do I summarize what he meant to me that’s befitting to the man that he was? The first thing that comes to my mind is his kind and easy smile. I’m reminded of his gift of gab and his calm demeanor. I know that he was a loving husband to my aunt and a terrific father to his children. Moreover, he was a man that was moved by his faith to serve others. While he’ll be terribly missed, we rest in the knowledge of his ascension to heaven. The last time we spoke was when Aunt Judy called to see how we were faring in Houston through Hurricane Harvey. It was so cute as it took me a minute to realize both Judy and Bill were on the phone. They caught me up on everything that was going on with my cousins and the grandchildren. Everyone knows how proud they are of their legacy and well they should be. That phone call meant the world to me and I will not forget it. I am saddened that this would be the last time we talked. Uncle Billy Sam, you were a life very well lived. What a blessing you’ve been to your family, your church, your friends, and your community. You’ll be sorely missed but we rejoice your graduation into glory.

Even though the hurt is deep, we can all be assured Bill is with our Lord Jesus. He was a wonderful servant for the Lord. Rest In Peace dear Bill.
