William Edwin “Billy” Mathews, 91, of Montpelier passed away Monday, September 4, 2017.
Mr. Mathews served in the Navy during WWII and was an active member of the Montpelier Ruitan Club for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; sons Mark (Lisa) and Todd (Shirley); grandchildren JT, Jacob, Andy, Cheyenne and Savannah; great-grandchildren Hayden, Aurora and Krista Ann; siblings Willie (Rita), Melvin (Phylis) and Mary Moore; and many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Alice Mathews; and siblings Gertrude, Charlotte and Toby.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 7 at Lacy Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 8 at Signal Hill Memorial Park in Hanover, Virginia.
