Charlotte R. Parrish

Parrish, Charlotte Mae Ronquest, 52, daughter of John J. and Shirley Ronquest, of Bumpass, VA., went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2015, after a hard battle with breast cancer. Charlotte was the Director of Events Management Group at Randolph-Macon College. She joined RMC in 1995 and served three presidents at the college with great distinction. In her 20 years at the college, so many remarkable events had her special imprint, and she brought celebration and success to everything she did. Charlotte was also a devoted member of Gum Spring United Methodist Church, where she directed the Bell Choir.She was preceded in death by her father, John J. Ronquest. She is survived by her husband, William Jeffrey Parrish, her son, Alexander Houston Parrish (Alex), her mother, Shirley Ronquest, brother, David W. Ronquest and nephew, Samual C. Kelley.She also leaves her mother-in-law, Patricia Parrish, sisters-in-law, Karen S. Parrish and Leslie P. Whitney; nieces, Rachel, Rebecca and Kathryn.The family will receive friends at Gum Spring United Methodist Church, 191 Cross County Road, Gum Spring, VA 23065 on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 2:00, at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In Charlotte’s honor, please wear pink.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gum Spring United Methodist Church Music Ministry or Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Charlotte was the kind of person who made the world better just because she existed. Her fun, frolic, kindness and irreverence was such a jolt of aliveness. Even with this experience with cancer, she played hard and enjoyed every minute she was granted. Charlotte, you inspire me! God bless you and hold you close. I cherish your memory. I will truly miss my conversation and interaction with Charlotte. She was such an fun and energetic spirit. She was an encourager and an inspiring woman to all she encountered. I so enjoyed hearing the stories about beach trips and the fun she had with her friends.

I did not know the family, but I have worked with Charlotte on graduations and installations of presidents etc. at RMC. My condolences to all members of her family and unfortunately, I just learned about her passing today, March 28. She was a joy and delight in every way, and I will miss her bright smile and willingness to go the extra mile for all RMC events.
