Mary Ruth Walker, 96, formerly of Alachua, Florida, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Bumpass, following an extended illness.She was a life-long follower of the Christian faith and member of her favorite local church. She was a beloved mother, homemaker, and sometimes bank clerk and retail sales clerk. She loved flower arrangement and was a frequent volunteer in elementary schools. She loved to make clothes for her daughter and grandchildren.She was born October 5, 1912, to the late Jesse Lee and Ellen Corley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Clark Walker and son, Ralph Jackson Walker.She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Clemmons and husband, Robert; her grandchildren, Dana Beardsworth, of Virginia Beach, Robert W. Clemmons, of Holly Springs, NC, Lily Backer, of Bumpass, and Fred Walker, of Alachua, FL; and nine great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 1100 Boulders Pkwy, Suite # 601, Richmond, Virginia, 23225.Visitation and memorial service will be held at Lacy Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 15 .Interment will be in Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua County, Florida.Lacy Funeral Home, Mineral, handled arrangements.Visit www.lacyfh.com for online guestbook.
When we lay a wreath in someoneâ??s honor the flowers will wither but the prayers we offer for someone will never wither. So here goesâ?¦May Christ who was crucified and died for our sake, and now lives, deliver Mary Ruth from eternal death. May Christ, son of the living God, place her in the beauty of His paradise and may He, the Good Shepherd, claim her as one of his flock. May He forgive all her sins and grant her a place among the saints at His right hand. There may she ever behold her Redeemer face to face and ever stand before Him, and, placed in the ranks of the blessed, may she delight in the vision of God for ever and ever. Amen. We who go on without her now must take solace in the knowledge that this is not the end, but a beginning, and that mortal eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor human mind comprehended, what God has in store for those who love Him.Perhaps she would counsel us this:I feel your sorrow and appreciate your prayers. When you are lonely, know that I am nearby for you. Iâ??m no longer on earth, Iâ??m in a new place – a place too beautiful to describe. Itâ??s a place of peace, comfort, and love; a place so wonderful it defies imagination. While you are sad now, you will grow in strength in time. You can always turn to me in prayer; please do. You can continue to love me. I will watch over you, though for now you will not be able to see or touch me. You are still on earth and meant to be there for now. You will grieve; it isnâ??t easy. Death is always sad, but believe that someday soon weâ??ll be reunited, with God and all our loved ones. Eternal rest grant unto Little Grandma Mary Ruth, oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, with the souls of all the faithful departed rest in eternal peace. Amen.
Dearest Mary Frances and family, our hearts and prayers are with all of you in this time of remembering and adjusting to a life with a little empty space….however, take heart in the fact that Aunt Mary left us the greatest legacy of wonderful, beautiful and sometimes funny memories.
