Parker Shelton
July 22, 1996 – May 13, 2020
On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, Parker Shelton, loving son and brother passed away at the age of 23.
Parker was born on July 22, 1996 in Henrico, Va to Christina and Carlton Shelton. He graduated from Hanover High School in 2014. He went to Christopher Newport University for 2 years before pursuing a career in construction as a project manager. Parker had a passion for all things hunting, especially with his father and close friends. He also loved dogs and he combined his two passions by training his beloved bird dog, Willie Nelson. He had a great passion for rehabilitating old trucks. Parker enjoyed physical fitness and chasing gains at the gym. He loved playing volleyball and shared his love of volleyball with the JV Boys Volleyball team as coach at Hanover High School. Parker was known for his candor on politics, quick wit, and light hearted joking that delighted every person he encountered.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Frances Shelton. Parker is survived by his parents; sisters, Nicole and Meredith Shelton; and his maternal grandparents, Barbara and Robert Flournoy, in addition to several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25 at Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Pursuant to state regulations masks will be required for all who attend.

Chrissy, Carlton, Meredith and Nicole, our hearts ache for you. A great young man gone too soon. Cherish the memories and celebrate him. We are here for you and many prayers and thoughts. Love, Lou, Robin and family.
We are so sorry for your loss. Parker coached our son Teagan at Hanover. Teagan loved him. Prayers for comfort and peace. ❤️
Didn’t know Parker except as a friend of the Kenny Mitchell Family who thinks so much of your whole family. We are so sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for the news of Parker’s passing. My heart is so pained by this loss. I met Parker last year as he coached the JV Boys Volleyball team. My son was on Varsity but I would be there to watch the JV games sometimes. The win over our rival Atlee was the most exciting match I’ve ever witnessed. Parker did great things with his team and made an impact with many. This loss is great, and I pray for comfort and peace as you navigate this time. May the memories of him and his love sustain you.
So sorry for your loss. I knew Parker as a scout in Troop 555. I’m proud to have known him.
Chrissy, Carlton, Meredith, and Nicole,
Your family will always hold a very special place in our hearts. It is not just because I taught Meredith and Parker, but because of the special friendships that were made with all of you and remain to this day. Your family did a lot for mine and it is not forgotten.
I keep thinking of when I would slip and call Parker, “Parkie Poo,” which as a third grader I know he hated, but he just smiled his sweet smile and never corrected me.
Your family is a bright light to so many and I pray for peace, love, and that same light for you all.
We love you all,
Monica, Kevin, Reagan, Logan Pearce and Marion Rainey
My grief for your loss is great. May our Father’s grace in comfort give you peace! May His strength sustain each of you.
Carlton, Chrissy, Meredith and Nicole
My heart and prayers goes out to each of you. No words can mend the loss of a loved one. May Jesus stand with you and show you his love. You are a loved family and not alone. We are here for you. You can call on me day or night
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and family. Sincerely your friends Hamlett and Annie Davenport.
Our thoughts and prayers to your family. I always enjoyed hunting with you and your dad. Thanks for the memories and laughs. Jimmy and Anna Wegman
Our hearts break for your loss. We stand with you in prayer during this time – that you may grieve and someday find the peace that passes all understanding.
We are so sorry to hear about Parker. We are sending prayers for all of you. We remember him from the many Sports fields where we were together, he was so sweet. Hugs and love to you all.
We adored your son! He was like a part of our family and for that, we are so very grateful. He was funny and kind, and his friendship with both of our boys created an impact that will last their lifetimes. Hunting, Softball, Xbox and shenanigans in High School (especially laughing about Senior prank day) those things make us smile and we thank God for allowing us the time spent with your dear son.
Please know that we are praying for you Carlton, Chrissy, your girls, and the extended family. We pray in time, that God will provide you with the peace that passes all understanding. Parker will always and forever be remembered with a smile.
Much love, John and Lynne Kegel
I am broken hearted to read the news of Parker’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I didn’t have the pleasure of teaching Parker, but I loved getting to know him when he would come to school to see Meredith and Nicole. I remember coming to your house and Parker was so excited that he was going to get “Bessert” if he ate a good lunch or dinner! Sending lots of love to all of you as the grieve the loss of such a special son and brother.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I knew Parker in high school and he was a good energy and a quick wit. God bless you and yours in this difficult time.
I pray for the peace that passes all understanding to be over you. I remember Parker at “Why the Star”, helping out with parking and he helped my friend in a wheelchair get through the path through the woods. He and another young man at times had to pick up the wheelchair and carry it, just so my friend could see the whole performance! Unselfish and compassionate. My continued prayers and love to your family.
Parker was always a great personality to be around. I knew him from kindergarten, and we later shared a trigonometry class in our senior year of high school that I have really good memories of. He was a peoples person that could get along with anyone. His presence was always a good one. My sympathy goes out to his family.
Going to miss you so much, brother. You were a big part of my life growing up and your friendship with my brother and your kindness and inclusiveness of me, and your willingness to listen and help others up spoke mountains about your character. We will be thinking about you always.
Our deepest condolences and we are keeping the entire Shelton family in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was on the Hanover High School Varsity Volleyball team but I knew Parker very well. I saw him as a great coach but also as a role model that I could look up to. He could brighten the mood with one of his jokes. My time knowing Parker was short but I will never forget the memories he left with me and the whole Boys Volleyball team. I am praying for your whole family.

Please accept my sincere condolences for such a great loss. I knew Parker for such a little time, but appreciated his enthusiasm for the woods & wildlife, & his integrity as a sportsman. He was kind and generous and good company. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, I am certain.
Deepest sympathy from Ira Glen Farm! Please come out and spend time in the woods as God heals your soul by you laying your concerns at the foot of the cross. He will carry you the rest of the way. May God bless you and your family, and give you peace!
He had to be special to all that knew him. Our prayers are with the family.
Carlton & Family:
I am deeply saddened to hear about your lose. I remember Parker when he was a member of the Four Rivers 4-H club. He always displayed good sportsmanship and respect. His marksmanship skills definitely carried over in his love for hunting and the outdoors. A great young man! He will truly be missed!
My deepest sympathy.

Chrissy & Carlton,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your son. My family will keep yours in our thoughts & prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
Coach Parker Shelton began his first year coaching volleyball on Hanover’s JV team and helping with the varsity team as well. I was on the varsity team and whenever he was in our midst we would all have a smile to our faces. He brought nothing but fun, jokes, and happiness to them courts. I pray for everyone who has been touches by his joyfulness, and his loved ones. This is heart breaking for every single boy at Hanover volleyball, but his name will live for ever in our hearts.
I am very sorry for your loss. My son was on the varsity volleyball team for Hanover High School. The boys on the JV and varsity teams respected and enjoyed having Parker as their coach. He worked so hard with the JV team, and their progress was amazing. I pray for God’s comfort to you all during this very sad and difficult time.

Dear Shelton Family,
We met Parker when he sparked up the Hanover Hawks volleyball team as a player with Eliott. We followed his journey as the boys were CNU Captains. His warm, kind, and jovial personality showed every time he stopped by the house, talked trucks, hunted with the boys, or stayed with us at the beach. His constant smile will remain with us. Our hearts grieve with you thinking of him every day. We will miss him very much. Our deepest sympathy to your whole family.
