Kaylee Nicole Steadman

August 28, 2007 – October 9, 2025

With profound love and sorrow, we announce that our beloved Kaylee Nicole Steadman, age 18, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at UVA Hospital, surrounded by love.

Born on August 28, 2007, Kaylee’s life was one of quiet courage, radiant smiles, and enduring strength. Though she never spoke a word, her presence spoke volumes. Her smile could light up a room, and her spirit left a mark on every heart that knew her. She faced lifelong challenges with strength and bravery—often through pain—yet her gentle soul remained a source of comfort and love to all around her.

Kaylee was the cherished daughter of Jerrel Allen Steadman, Jr. and Rebekah Shayne Breeden, and the beloved sister of Ava Jean Steadman, Isabelle Faye Steadman, and Kamden Dakota Breeden. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Robert “Bob” Kober, Sr. and Nancy Kober, her cousin Chad Sponougle, her great-granddaddy Elvin Breeden, and her aunt Briget Hayes.

She is survived by a large and loving family, including her Grandma Teresa Kober, Popa Jerrel Steadman, Sr., Mema Virginia Steadman, Grandmother Dana McKenzie (“Angel Granny”), and great-grandmother Gloria Breeden. Her love and memory will be carried on by her aunts: Susan Beall (Paul), Rachel Sponaugle (Ricky), Samantha Steadman, Amanda Shipp, Chloe Dowell, and Shannon Breeden (“Aunt Shay Shay”); her uncles: Mark Miesowitz, Jr. (Marcy), James Miesowitz (Clair), Jacob Steadman, Tyler Scott, and Travis Scott; and her cousins: Shane Beall, Nathan Beall, Madelynn Beall, William Miesowitz, Blake Miesowitz, Chase Miesowitz, Logan Miesowitz, Maryonna Miesowitz, Rick Sponaugle, Jr., Laila Sponogule, Tyler Sponaugle, Isla Sponaugle, Noah Steadman, Peyton McClary, Kameron McClary, Seth Breeden (Casey), Emily Thorne, Kaleb Thorne, Tristan Atlanta Bartley (Thorne), and Sebby Waters.

Kaylee was also deeply loved by many more uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family, including: Judy Lewis, Ron Kober (Nicole), Bobby Kober, James Breeden (Wendy), Timmy Breeden (Hilda), Troy Breeden (Kristy), Connie Breeden (Larry), Ronnie Breeden, Charlie Breeden, and Jay Breeden.

She was especially cherished by her godparents, Linda and the late Tommy Lee Scott.

Her life, though quiet and often difficult, was filled with love and surrounded by those who cherished her deeply. Kaylee taught us all about unconditional love, resilience, and the beauty that can exist without words.

A private service will be held by the family to honor her life and spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kaylee’s memory to organizations supporting children with disabilities and their families.

Now you flutter beyond our reach, sweet Kaylee—free from pain, embraced by peace, as delicate and bright as a butterfly in the sky. We love you always!
