Agnes V. “Nell” Nicholas Lacy, age 80, lovingly known as Mama, Mamaw, Mama Nell, and Mrs. Nell, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 1, 1945, Nell was a lifelong resident of Holly Grove, where she built a life centered around love, family, and community. Her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She poured her heart into raising her children and treasured every moment spent with her beloved grandson. Her hands were rarely still—she found peace and purpose in baking, sewing, and caring for those around her.
Nell was known for her boundless kindness, quiet strength, and gentle spirit. She loved everyone she met and was deeply loved in return by all who knew her.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. “Bucky” Lacy. She is survived by her children, Fran Grimm (Douglas), Julie Lacy, and Carl Lacy; her grandson, Jarrett Grimm and his girlfriend, Grace; her sister, Bertie Clough (Frank); her brother, Glen Nicholas (Betty); and many dear friends and extended family members whose lives were touched by her presence.
Nell leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
