Alvin Linwood Grant, Jr. of Mineral, Va. died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.
Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Linwood Grant, Sr. and his brother, Ricky Allen Grant.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Thacker Grant; his children, Judy Grant Baird Richard, David Lee Grant Catherine, Donna Grant Smith Robert, two grandchildren, Daniel and Grace; two step grandchildren, Brandon and Bryant; one step great grandchild, Chase; mother, Louise Harris Donald; sister, Linda Grant Hazelwood Edward; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 in South Anna Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the M H Grant Family Cemetery, on his farm, in Mineral, Va.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Lacy Funeral Home, Mineral.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Locust Creek Fire Department.

Becky, Judy, Donna, and David, I share your grief and sorrow for the loss of your husband, father, and my dear beloved cousin. My happy memories growing up with Al will always be in my heart. I will miss him greatly.
Family and Friends,it will soon be 5 months since I lost Alvin and itstill hurts just as bad today as it did then and I know I need to go on with life and family that is what he would want me to do.I do thank all of our friends and family for all you have done and still do.May God bless you all and we will see him again one day and what a day it will be.Love to allBecky
