Elwood Earnest Stanley Jr., 86, of Chesterfield departed this life Sunday, July 16, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Effie Stanley; son Ernie Stanley (Audrey); daughter Tracey Stanley; and son David Stanley (Connie); six grandchildren Brandon Noel, Jason Noel, Andrea Noel, Michael Stanley, Daniel Stanley and Moriah Stanley; two great-grandchildren Collin Smith and Makayla Stanley; three sisters Ann Scruggs, Patsy Dymacek and Barbara Dixon; brother Robert Stanley. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Faye Stanley. He will also be missed by his puppy lap-companion, Cooper, who was always by his side.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19 at Lacy Funeral Home 6241 Cross County Rd., Mineral, Va. 23117.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 at Shiloh Methodist Church 17420 Shiloh Church Rd., Montpelier, Va. 23192. Interment will follow in Nuckols Landmark Cedar Cemetery.

I was very saddened to hear that Elwood passed away. I was a neighbor of his when I was a young boy. He was a big part of my life growing up during a really bad time in my life. Thank you Elwood for everything you did for me
