Evelyn Bagby Davis

September 26, 1934 – October 5, 2025

Evelyn Bagby Davis, 91, of Bumpass, Virginia, was called home on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Born on September 26, 1934, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter C. Bagby and Hester Bagby.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John P. Davis; her daughter, Judith Anne Davis-Poore and her sister, Paulette Barnes.

She is survived by her loving brothers, Jimmy Bagby (Alethia) and Leslie Bagby (Jeanne), both of Bumpass, Virginia; her sister, Josephine Bowles of Richmond, Virginia; and her lifelong friend James Grady of Mineral, Virginia. Evelyn’s gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering kindness will be dearly remembered by her family and friends.

Evelyn was deeply loved by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom cherished her warmth, sense of humor, and gentle strength. She held a special place in each of their hearts and will be fondly remembered for her unwavering love and kindness.

Evelyn was a devoted member of Holly Grove Christian Church, where her faith and fellowship were central to her life. Her compassion and generosity touched all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Holly Grove Christian Church, 163 Holly Grove Dr., Bumpass, VA.  A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Church with interment following the service in the Church Cemetery.

Evelyn’s family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones and will forever be remembered for her warmth, grace, and love.
