James W. Hamrick

April 19, 1935 – October 17, 2025

James “Jim” William Hamrick of Goochland, Virginia went home to be with Jesus on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the age of 90.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rhetta Hamrick; the love of his life and mother of his children and wife of 43 years, Joyce. He is also preceded in death by his second wife, his life saver, and love of 12 years, Faris; his son, James “Jimmy” Hamrick; and his siblings; Frank, Elizabeth, Billy, Bobby, Carolyn, Daisy, Dan and Ron.

He is survived by his children, Donald “Joey” Hamrick, and Jill Harrow (Warren); brothers, Gene Hamrick (Donna) and Don Hamrick (Lorna); grandchildren, Travis (Jessica), Billy (Amanda) and Kalee (Fran); and eight amazing great-grandchildren. He was blessed with three bonus children and bonus grandchildren that he truly loved.

Jim was a devoted husband, Daddy, Granddad and Pop. He was proud to be the oldest of eleven children. Jim was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1953-1957. He worked as a skilled machinist by trade and after retirement cherished his time with his family, friends and being with Scott “piddling” working on the farm, gardening, fishing and hunting.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Oakland Baptist Church, 2965 Oakland Church Road, Gum Spring, VA 23065. The family will receive friends prior to the service from Noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery.
