Jean Lacy Perkins

June 13, 1936 – June 28, 2022

Jean Lacy Perkins, 86, of Gum Spring, VA, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville.

Jean was born on June 13, 1936, to the late Charles (Ham) and Ethel Lacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew G. Perkins Sr.; and son Bruce H. Perkins. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Bailey of Louisa; her son, Drew Perkins of Nelson; and her sister, Dorothy Grubbs of Florida. Also left with her memories is a very special neighbor, J.P Tirico of Gum Spring.

Despite her physical stature, Jean had a larger-than-life personality. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. She was a lifelong resident of Louisa County and loved being at home in the Orchid area. Despite her declining health, Jean was able to stay at the home she loved with the help of many devoted caregivers.

The family would like to thank Pamela Houchens, Hazel Coles, Juana Brooks, and Deborah Glover for the time each of them spent with Jean and their devoted service. Sincere gratitude is extended to her medical caregivers, including Dr A.R. Southall and the staff of Lousia Family Practice, in addition to the loving support she received during her brief stay at the Center for Acute Hospice Care.

At her request there will be no memorial service. Donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of the Piedmont or Gum Spring United Methodist Church.
