Jean Marie Kateeshock
September 15, 1947 – January 9, 2026
Jean Marie Kateeshock, 78, of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Friday, January 9, 2026, in Henrico Doctor’s Hospital. The cherished daughter of Regina and Carl (Ernie) Lawson, she was born in Sugar Notch, PA on September 15, 1947. After moving to NJ, Jean enjoyed returning to PA, and spent many happy times with her extended family there. She attended nursing school in Paterson, NJ, and practiced nursing for over 40 years. She worked as a cardiac care nurse, a private duty nurse, and later as a school nurse. She married Thomas Kateeshock in 1968. Together they had two daughters, Sandra and Jacqueline, and 57 years of wedded happiness, until Tom’s passing last year.
Nothing meant more to Jean than family. She and Tom moved to VA so the entire family could be together. There they found a loving and supportive community and treasured watching their family grow, especially their grandchildren Samantha, Cassidy, Brianna and Ryan. Jean is remembered by her sisters Jane and Carlene, her brothers-in law Glenn and Joseph, nephew Brett and niece Katherine. She is missed by her daughter Sandra, her sons-in law Ken and James, and her beloved grandchildren. We send her into the loving arms of her parents, her husband Tom, and her daughter Jackie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, from 4-6pm at Lacy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, January 15, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 3388 Three Chopt Rd., Gum Spring, VA 23065. The family will gather afterward for the interment at Spring Grove Memorial Park Cemetery, 1-573 Bridge Rd., Mineral, VA 23117

Rest in the arms of the angels dear cousin.
I knew Jean and Tom since 1968 and was Godfather for daughter Jackie. They were all fine people. May they rest in peace, and I feel terrible for Sandra and the grandkids who have lost two parents/grandparents in less than a year. compound by Brianna and Ryan’s loss of their mother in 2023.
