John Duval Grubbs Jr.
April 28, 1955 – August 30, 2022
John Duval Grubbs Jr. (J.D.), passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 30, 2022, at his home.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents John Duval Grubbs Sr. and Lucille Davis Grubbs and his best friend Raymond Askew.
J.D. is survived by his wife, Beverly, sons, John Duval Grubbs III, (Julie) and Brian Scott Grubbs (Ashley) and daughters Amy Shifflett (Daniel) and Heather Grubbs (Greg). Six Grandchildren, Davis, Jackson, Aiden, Powell, Johnny, and Briley. Known as Honey, Daddy, PawPaw and Granddaddy. JD loved his family and was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren.
He loved sports. He played football as a child, in high school and then coached youth football on the Colts with Dicky Purcell, Ronnie Fisher and Byron Mehlhaff for years. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports and having them visit.
He liked to travel and was looking forward to some trips when Beverly retired.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 1-2pm at Bethany Christian Church, 2402 Bethany Church Rd, Bumpass, VA 23024 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2pm in the church. Interment services will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.

Please know Jr will be greatly missed. We have always enjoyed his assisting you in your photography. He was such a sweet man! I always enjoyed seeing the projects he created for you and his talent was amazing. I know you miss him dearly. I cannot imagine your heartache but please know that my family and I are here for you! JD was a great guy who loved his family and friends. He was full of life and lots of fun to be around. So glad I had the chance to know him and his family and spend time with them. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Bev my heart and love goes out to u and your family.

Cling to His promise and all the wonderful memories you have made with JD. Praying for comfort and peace for you and your family.

Beverly and family, I was so sad to hear of J D and his passing. I just asked John a couple of weeks ago how all of you were doing. J D was one of the good ones and will really be missed. I am praying for all of you in this trying time. Just know that GOD has you all in his hands and will take care of you. I’m out of town at this time and would be there if I could.
