Joseph V Mills

January 24, 1948 – August 5, 2022

Joseph V Mills was taken from his earthly home to be brought up to his Heavenly  Mansion on Friday August 5th 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Janice Mills, and his Step son Aubrey T Cornett. He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 49 Years Jean Elizabeth Mills. His siblings Vernon L Mills, and Donna M Cox. His Cornett children(step) Bill, Deborah, Kathy-Ann, and Linda also his Mills children(adopted) Joe Mills, Betty-Jean Arnold, and Charlie Mills (forever his Charlie boy). 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Joseph Mills was the embodiment of the “True Family Man” from marrying into a readymade family with 5 children and accepting it with open arms to becoming a foster parent and ultimately adopting 3 of his foster children. His feelings were that blood does not make a family, LOVE does. He loved with his whole heart and that was obvious to all who knew him. He was a great spiritual leader and friend, never willing to turn anyone away in need. He was a man of few words but would be there for anyone who asked.

Joseph Mills made a huge impact on the world around him. God may have decided to take him home but for those blessed to have known him there will be a very large hole left in their hearts.  He will be greatly missed. With God’s help the tears that are shed will lead to a peace in our  minds and our hearts as Joe will be forever in them. We are all greatly changed because Joe was a part of our lives. Thank you God for that opportunity and lets us take comfort in your word.

“Brothers and Sisters we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep with death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind who have no hope.  For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 13-14/17-18

There will be a visitation service held on Wednesday August 10th from 6-8pm, the funeral service will be held on Thursday August 11th from 12-1pm with reception/repass to follow.  All services will be held at Fork Baptist Church 14357 Jefferson Hwy Bumpass, VA 23024.
