RIGSBY, Susie Alvis passed away Monday, July 30, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Rigsby and son, Sam Rigsby. Survivors include her daughter, Becky Massie (Fred), three grandsons, Rusty Massie (Renata), Sam Massie (Gail) and Peter Massie; two great-grandchildren, Boone Massie and Winnie Massie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Thursday, August 2 at Gum Spring United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday, August 3 at the church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Gum Spring United Methodist Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Piedmont.

Jesus compared death to sleep because people can be awakened from death, thanks to the power of God. The resurrections that Jesus himself performed on earth give us confidence in the Bible’s promise that the dead in God’s memory will awake from their long “sleep.” (John 5:28, 29) Meanwhile, you can take comfort in knowing that Ms. Susie your dead loved one is resting in peace.
